Daraa-Sana

The Public Corporation for Drinking Water in Daraa Governorate has put the Al-Basil pumping station in the town of Al-Yadudah in the western countryside of Daraa, effectively operational after the completion of the experimental pumping phase, as the station feeds about 30 thousand people in four residential compounds.

Engineer Hussein Abu Khadour, head of the operating stations department in the corporation, indicated that the project was put in place by experimental pumping early last September and it was found through pumping that there are several faults within the payment line as a result of not using the line for more than 6 years and the length of 12 km which connects the Al-Basil station with a combined tank with a capacity of 500 meters A cube in the outskirts of the suburb, pointing out that the corporation’s workshops worked on maintaining the pipeline to ensure full quantities of water reached all the beneficiaries and equipped two pumping stations out of four.

Engineer Radwan Zureikat, director of the station, indicated that the project, in its current state, consisted of two pumping groups of 90 cubic meters of abundance for each pump and a ground tank with a capacity of 300 cubic meters, a transmission center with a capacity of 400 kVA, in addition to 3 wells located about 1 km from the pumping station that were equipped with 3 submersibles. With an abundance of 30 cubic meters per submersible, water is pumped from these wells to the station and from there to the towns of Al-Yadudah and Khirb Al-Shaham and the areas of Muftrah and the suburb of Yarmouk in the city of Daraa.

It is noteworthy that the Al-Basil station was put into service at the beginning of the year 2000, but in 2013 it was sabotaged by terrorism and stopped service until late 2018, and with the return of stability to the governorate, the corporation began work to rehabilitate the station.
