The Homs Agriculture Directorate began distributing the first batch of compensation to farmers affected by the recent fires in some villages and towns in the governorate's countryside.
The Director of Homs Agriculture, Engineer Nazih Al-Rifai, said in a statement to SANA today that the first batch of compensation for fire damage that occurred between the 7 and 13 of last October has been distributed to 300 farmers in the western countryside of Homs.
He explained that the Directorate distributed yesterday about one million and 50 thousand pounds to the affected people in the villages of “Al-Musharifa, Aynata and Al-Khansa”, while the distribution today included the villages of “Adlin, Al-Bahlouniya, Burj Al-Maksour and Al-Shabronyah”. More than 40 million and 500 thousand liras.
In turn, Assistant Director of Agriculture, Engineer Tawfiq Al-Hassan, explained that the total value of compensation amounted to 81 million and 119 thousand pounds, which will be distributed in 3 payments, stressing that the distribution process continues this year until the distribution of the amount allocated for the first batch is completed.
He also indicated that the compensation includes damages incurred by fruit trees such as olives, apples, citrus fruits, grapevines, and others, pointing out that the beneficiaries of the three payments are distributed in 14 villages: Al-Juwikhah, Ayoun Al-Wadi, Al-Khansa, near Ali Wadlin, Ain Al-Ajouz, Al-Burj Al-Maksoor, Al-Bahlouniya, Al-Mazina, Al-Zwaitina, Al-Shabronia, Aynata, Hob Namira and Al-Musharrafa.
