Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad Al-Malki affirmed that the United States' classification of Israeli settlements exports in the occupied Palestinian territories as “Israeli products” is tantamount to an official US approval to annex settlement lands to “Israel,” which constitutes a war crime for which those responsible must be held accountable.
Al-Maliki clarified in a statement carried by Wafa news agency that this classification by US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is a dedication to the occupation plans to annex lands from the West Bank, which comes within the so-called Deal of the Century aimed at liquidating the Palestinian issue.
Al-Maliki stressed that this crime requires immediate action at the international level and must be rejected and confronted with all available legal means and means.
In turn, a member of the Palestine Liberation Organization Executive Committee, Hanan Ashrawi, affirmed that the United States' classification of settlement exports as "Israeli products" is provocative and a deliberate and serious challenge to international law.
Ashrawi stressed the need to boycott these products because they are the product of the theft and plunder of Palestinian lands and resources by the Israeli occupation with absolute American support and in direct violation of United Nations resolutions that affirm the illegality of Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territory.
Ashrawi indicated that Pompeo's visit to a number of settlements in the West Bank means that the US administration has become a basic partner in the occupation of Palestinian lands, in addition to being persistently violating the rights and capabilities of the Palestinian people.
Ashrawi called on the international community, specifically the UN Security Council, to assume its responsibilities and implement its decisions, foremost among which is Resolution No. 2334, which calls for an immediate cessation of settlements.
