The Department of Biomedical Engineering at City University has developed a magnetic spray called "M-spray" that can be sprayed on the surface of different objects and move objects through a magnetic field.

The R&D team once sprayed the spray to drop the pills and capsules and successfully moved the capsules from the rabbit esophagus to the stomach. They believe that the technology can be used in catheter insertion and delivery of drugs in the body in the future. They hope to find doctors to cooperate in clinical trials.

The team led by Associate Professor Shen Yajing of the Department of Biomedical Engineering at CityU successfully used polyvinyl alcohol, wheat gluten powder, and iron particles to develop a magnetic spray "M-spray".

The spray can form 0.1 to 0.25 mm thin films on linear, flat, and three-dimensional objects.

The composition of the spray will not affect human blood, esophagus, urethra, etc. Can be applied

Although the use of magnetic force to transport drugs is not a new idea, Shen Yajing said that the film formed by the spray will disintegrate into a powder under a certain frequency of vibration. Theoretically, the composition of the spray will not affect the human body, nor will it affect the size, shape and shape of the object. The structure is believed to be applicable to the blood, esophagus, urethra, etc.

The group once fed the sprayed capsules to the rabbits, and successfully controlled the capsules to reach the stomach of the rabbits with a magnetic field.

They look forward to finding a doctor to cooperate in clinical trials within two or three years.
