The four-month-old baby from the south, who was allegedly murdered by his parents, is being laid to rest today (Friday) in the Nitzan cemetery.

His parents, whose detention was extended last night by seven days, came to the funeral accompanied by police officers.

The suspicions against the two have worsened after the baby's death, and now stand for helpless murder, abuse and assault of a minor and causing sabotage.

The baby was evacuated last week to Barzilai Hospital in Ashkelon by his parents, suffering from a severe head injury and internal injuries.

This week he was pronounced dead by medical staff at the scene, who were diagnosed with brain death.

"All the findings raise a very high suspicion that his death was caused by an injury and moreover, repeated injuries were found," the police representative said at a hearing to extend their detention.

"The investigation material reveals two cases in which violence was used by the suspect and at the same time the occult prevails over the visible. It is not clear to the unit investigating which of the two caused the injuries."

Police claimed that the investigation material showed that the baby had been abused for a long time.

The representative added that there was a confrontation between the parents, in which the mother said that "there was one incident that he bounced on his hand and it seemed unusual to her. She shouted at him 'what are you doing' '.

During the hearing, the judge ruled that the parents were aware of the baby's condition and the marks on his body.

This is after the police representative at the hearing presented WhatsApp correspondence between the couple from Ashkelon that testifies to this.

According to the testimony of the director of intensive care in court, the baby arrived at the hospital unconscious and had a low pulse.

When he started feminizing the baby, he noticed that there were signs of bruising on the toddler's head and hemorrhages from the last few days.

The doctor said at the start of the hospitalization that the source of the abuse could not be determined with certainty, but it could not be ruled out.

The father denied the suspicions against him, and told the interrogation that he fed his son, then laid him on his stomach and left the room.

Later he heard choking noises, and found the baby vomiting and pale.

He claims that at this point he ordered an ambulance, which evacuated the four-month-old to Barzilai Hospital suffering from a severe head injury.

During the interrogation, the father denied harming or abusing his son.

The judge ruled that the father could not give real explanations in his interrogation for the same severe signs of sabotage that were discovered on his son.

The father's defense attorney claimed that a month ago he came with his son to the hospital due to medical issues in the baby's head.
