Damascus-Sana

The Minister of Electricity, Eng. Ghassan Al-Zamil, explained that maintenance work in a number of power plants is in the final stage and will be consecutively serviced in the coming days, in a way that will contribute to improving the electrical situation, referring to the cooperation between the Ministries of Electricity and Oil to secure power carriers to the electrical stations.

Al-Zamil explained, in a call with Al-Suriya TV, that the ministry will end the maintenance work on the 25th of this month, pointing out that there are three generating sets in maintenance that will successively enter service soon and will contribute to improving the electrical situation during the winter.

And on the information reported by some social media pages about the problem of electricity cuts and the increase in rationing hours between Al-Zamil, that there are power outages and excess consumption due to the cold weather, and the ministry is trying to avoid this issue.

Al-Zamil pointed out that the Ministry of Oil provides us with approximately 9.4 million cubic meters of gas almost daily, but the transfer stations that operate on gas need 18 million cubic meters of gas in addition to six thousand tons of fuel and the consumer, of which 5 thousand tons because the generation sets need Maintenance so the rest is stored for winter use.

Al-Zamil explained that the electrical stations that operate on fuel are old stations that need maintenance, and the blockade and unilateral sanctions prevent the Ministry from providing the necessary parts to rehabilitate them.

As for the electrical station in Aleppo, Al-Zamil said, we are in the final stages of completing its maintenance and rehabilitation, with a capacity of 1000 megawatts, and it takes two years to enter service, and the first set of generation will be introduced after 11 months.
