Professor Didier Raoult lodged a complaint for defamation against Jean-Paul Stahl, professor of infectious diseases at the Grenoble University Hospital, after he notably accused him of uttering “
nonsense
” and of having “
screwed up
” his study on hydroxychloroquine, AFP learned from his lawyer on Friday, November 20.

", specified to AFP Me Brice Grazzini, the one of Professor Raoult's lawyers, the director of the Mediterranean Infection University Hospital Institute.
Stahl is the former president of the French Language Infectious Pathology Society (SPILF), a learned society at the origin of a complaint against Professor Raoult before the Council of the Order of Physicians, underlined Me Grazzini.
Spilf accuses the director of the IHU Méditerranée Infection for several ethical breaches related to his promotion of hydroxychloroquine as part of the treatment of patients with Covid-19.
Another complaint Thursday
As part of this case Didier Raoult will appear before the disciplinary chamber of the Council of the Order in Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, on a date that has not yet been specified.
This defamation complaint filed Friday follows a first complaint by Didier Raoult, at the end of October, on the same basis, against Professor Karine Lacombe, head of the infectious diseases department at Saint-Antoine hospital in Paris, also before the judicial tribunal of Marseille.
Professor Raoult also lodged a complaint on Thursday against the vice-president of the Ordre des médecins des Bouches-du-Rhône, for "
non-confraternity
", following about fifty tweets from him denigrating him.
At the end of July, Professor Raoult had filed a first complaint, "
for slanderous denunciation
", against Martin Hirsch, the director of Paris hospitals (AP-HP).
He had accused him of having given "
false testimony
" during his hearing before the National Assembly's commission of inquiry on June 24.
