Russian President Vladimir Putin affirmed today that the crimes of Nazism do not fall under the statute of limitations, indicating that attempts to undermine or forget the decisions of the Nuremberg Tribunal represent a blow to world security.
The Nuremberg Trials began in 1945 and ended in 1946, and 24 defendants from the high command of Nazi Germany stood before them. 12 of them were sentenced to death and the rest to life or long prison terms.
In a speech to the participants in the "Lessons Nuremberg" forum, Putin said, according to what Sputnik reported: “These crimes have no statute of limitations. They were evaluated by the Nuremberg tribunal and were defined as a crime against humanity and considered by the court in accordance with the concept of genocide and formed the basis of the United Nations Convention against Genocide, which It was adopted in 1948. ”
Putin added: “It is the duty of the entire world community to be careful about the decisions of the People's Court because we are talking about the principles that underlie the values of the post-war global order and the rules of international law,” indicating that they remain a solid and reliable basis for constructive dialogue and cooperation, and forgetting them and attempts to undermine them constitute a blow to ensure security in the whole world.
