The presentation meeting received overwhelming response, 700 people participated online

The Department of Justice and the Legal Affairs Bureau of the Ministry of Justice, the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the Ministry of Justice, the Department of Justice of Guangdong Province and the Legal Affairs Bureau of the Macau Government jointly organized the "Hong Kong legal practitioners and Macao practicing lawyers to obtain the mainland "Practice Qualifications and Practice of the Lawyer Professional Pilot Work Presentation Conference" to explain the relevant policies and the status quo and development opportunities of legal services in the Greater Bay Area for the industry.

The government stated that the response of the promotion meeting was very enthusiastic, with more than 700 people participating online.

According to the decisions of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress and the General Office of the State Council, legal practitioners in Hong Kong, including young lawyers and barristers with a cumulative lawyer’s practice experience of more than five years, can work in the Greater Bay Area after passing the examination and obtaining the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area lawyer’s practice certificate. The nine cities in the Bay Area handle some civil and commercial legal affairs (including litigation business and non-litigation business) that are applicable to Mainland laws. The Beijing Ministry of Justice recently announced the relevant examination details.

Officially, it is a major opportunity for the Hong Kong legal profession to provide mainland legal services in the Greater Bay Area. It can also provide diversified legal services and protections for clients in the Greater Bay Area (including Hong Kong-funded enterprises).

The Secretary for Justice Zheng Ruohua, Senior Counsel, said: "Thanks to the Ministry of Justice for its continuous support. The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Lawyers Practice Examination has responded positively to the opinions and expectations of the Hong Kong legal profession, and has reduced Hong Kong's legal profession in the Greater Bay Area. The threshold for the district to engage in Mainland legal affairs provides a broad stage for the industry to develop in the Mainland."
