A gang of drug dealers attempted to kidnap a Genoese businessman to demand a ransom from the family but the coup was foiled by the State Police.
The operation ended with the arrest of six people.
According to what has been reconstructed, the businessman was invited to a hotel in Varazze (Savona) and when the man arrived they tried to kidnap him.
The police kept the group under control with wiretapping.
The investigations are entrusted to the deputy prosecutor Annamaria Paolucci of the District Prosecutor of Genoa.
The news was illustrated in a press conference by the chief prosecutor of Savona Ubaldo Pelosi, by the police chief Giannina Roatta and by the manager of the Mobile Squad Rosalba Garello.
"This is an investigation that started a few months ago, linked to drug trafficking. Subsequently, from the interceptions, the desire for a kidnapping for the purpose of extortion emerged, which forced us to intervene in a timely manner, also to safeguard the victim chosen by the criminal organization ".
This was stated by the chief prosecutor of Savona Ubaldo Pelosi explaining the operation.
"Weapons and drugs were seized, moreover, from the first interrogations in progress at the Prosecutor's Office there were already the first admissions by the arrested. Considering the attempted kidnapping for extortion purposes, a parallel proceeding was opened at the Genoa Anti-Mafia District Directorate ".
