In the referendum on Sunday, 75.1 percent of the 6,236 participants voted for the continuation of the major project, 24.9 percent against.

Three quarters of the Graefelfinger who took part in the vote supported the project that the local council has been discussing and planning for years.
This was preceded by an election campaign, which was also carried out with a certain degree of severity on the Internet.
After the count on Sunday evening, supporters and opponents were optimistic and willing to continue working together constructively.
Mayor Peter Köstler said in an interview with Merkur: “This is a beautiful evening, with as clear a result as I had wished for.” The vote by the Graefelfinger confirms the work of the current and previous municipal council, “and I see myself with it confirmed ”, said Köstler, who looked ahead.
The referendum, which the local council initiated as a council petition, because a petition for a referendum had legal defects, "slowed down" the project.
As soon as the municipal council has determined the result on Tuesday, the already existing resolution to commission the next planning stage is to be implemented.
At the same time, the municipality will continue to pursue the building permit procedure “at full speed”.
Because certain deadlines must be observed in nature and species protection, the building site will probably be cleared in the first quarter of 2021.
The actual construction will probably start in the second half of 2021, said the mayor.
The planned completion in 2023 can be achieved with a swift approach.
In view of the clear result, Köstler hopes for the local council that “we will pull together with a large majority”.
That said Raymund Messmer, one of the initiators of the citizens 'initiative of the citizens' initiative "Save the School Forest".
“For us as Greens in Graefelfing, it is important not to cultivate any hostilities.

The project is "a blessing for schools, sports" and all generations on site.
The TSV members in particular could now practice sports such as handball in Graefelfing without having to go to Planegg.
In addition, the important offer to teach children to swim will be continued in Graefelfing.
The athletes would now have good training opportunities all year round - also when working with schools.
The municipality did not make the decision for this location easy for itself.
Much thought had been given, a great deal of consideration had been given and extensive compensatory measures had been decided.
Göbel: “You can welcome this location with a clear conscience.
