During the visit that took place today (Sunday), the Corona's commissioner, Prof. Nachman Ash of the Jerusalem Municipality, presented to him Mayor Moshe Leon, the municipal outline that was formulated for the return of Jerusalem to a full routine.
According to the outline, in the first phase, the municipality wanted to open a pilot that would allow the opening of 20 schools from all sectors in green and yellow neighborhoods.
Students who open schools will be asked to undergo two corona tests a week.
The tests will be held for each student twice a week at school entrances.
After that, the tests will be sent to a new testing laboratory, which will open in the coming days at Har Hotzvim, where they undertake to test them within 4 hours of their arrival at the laboratory.
The results will be delivered to students or parents directly through an app.
Corona tests for students will be done voluntarily and students will not be required to be tested.
In the second phase, and if the pilot is successful, the municipality plans to open cultural, sports, weddings and malls, after the Corona Cabinet approves a regulation under which only those who present a valid corona test can enter events, similar to the obligation to wear a mask.
"We must go one step further and open at least the educational institutions," said Mayor Moshe Leon, adding, "Every day that passes and the students are in the homes is another day when the educational gaps widen."
He said, "Jerusalem can and is able to accommodate this pilot, the municipality can help and in fact enable the opening of educational institutions in the city. As of this moment, we are ready for a full opening and are waiting for instructions."
