The IDF is investigating why a rocket fired at Ashkelon was not intercepted by the "Iron Dome", and is also investigating why a tank fired at a Hamas position without a permit. "Iron Dome" did not intercept the rockets and the interceptors were not even launched, resulting in a factory being hit in the industrial area of Ashkelon.

The findings of the investigation indicate that various technical and operational components were found throughout the incident that influenced the fact that the interception was not carried out, but it was not a human error or a malfunction in the detection and warning systems.

Air Force Commander Maj. Gen. Amikam Nurkin said: "We will continue to interrogate professionally, but we will not compromise on the end result in protecting the citizens of the State of Israel and we will make every effort to continue to protect the country's skies."

In response to the launch, the IDF attacked Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip. Hamas, saying that Hamas "bears responsibility for what is happening in and out of the Gaza Strip, and will bear the consequences of terrorist acts against Israeli citizens."

Prior to the IDF attack, a tank of the Armored Forces stationed on the Gaza Strip border fired at a Hamas position shortly after the rocket was fired at Ashkelon. Without permission.

A preliminary examination reveals that for some unknown reason, the MM understood that he had been instructed to attack the position, even though no such instruction had been given. The matter is under investigation.

As mentioned, the IDF is investigating whether the interceptors did not launch at the rocket fired from the Gaza Strip towards Ashkelon.

Meanwhile, yesterday began a pre-planned command exercise by the Southern Command to examine combat scenarios in the Gaza Strip with the participation of regular and reserve forces.

The exercise is set to take place by Wednesday.

As part of the exercise, the "Chief of Staff Examiner" began in a surprise format to examine the division's readiness for "multi-dimensional defense" in the face of a variety of scenarios.

In light of his isolation, the Chief of Staff conducted the examiner remotely through classified military communications, and in the examiner's area was conducted by the Deputy Chief of Staff.

During the exercise, the Gaza Division's capabilities to deal with a variety of "erupting" events in cooperation between arms and multi-organizational will be examined.

Among other things, a scenario of cyber attack and shutdown of operational systems in the division was practiced.

The scenario was carried out by the "red team" of the cyber defense system in the ICT Division.
