Green hour: Green politicians from the district came together virtually with interested listeners to discuss the Bavarian climate protection law that had just been passed.

They didn't skimp on criticism.

Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen -

The Bavarian Climate Protection Act was launched with "an incredible amount of fanfare".

The Greens in the district are not very enthusiastic about the result, as could not be overheard during the first virtual “Green Hour” of the Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen district association on Wednesday evening.

"That is completely weak, only target regulations, nothing binding," complained the environmental and climate policy spokesman Martin Stümpfig.

Particularly critical is the schedule provided for in the law, according to which CO2 emissions should drop to below five tons per capita and year by 2030.

"Then we are heading for a global warming of three degrees and more, that is not in accordance with Paris," said Stümpfig.

In addition to the environmental expert, district councilor and organic farmer Christine Mair, third district administrator Klaus Koch and the hunting and forest policy spokesman for the Greens parliamentary group, Hans Urban, took their places on the virtual podium.

The one-hour "live discussion" was moderated by district spokeswoman Jovana von Beckerath.

Urban: "This is pure cosmetics"

In turn, the quartet gave their opinion in front of around 30 listeners about the package of measures for this “task of the century”, as Prime Minister Markus Söder likes to call the “climate protection offensive”.

“It's pure cosmetics,” said Urban, referring to the wording in the law that Bavaria's state forest will become the “climate forest of the future”.

30 million trees are to be planted in the state forests over the next five years.

In total, this is only an increase of one million per year, because five million trees are already being planted per annum.

The increasing global warming is even more worrying.

“Three degrees plus in Bavaria means four to six degrees for us.

Then we will have no more forests in the foothills of the Alps ”, prophesied Urban.

In response to a question from the chat, he specified: "A rise in temperature means long dry periods and thus long dry spells for the forests."

Organic farmer Christine Mair also finds the new law “far too little binding”.

So you have to regulate the use of pesticides clearly and "come back to a normal level," said the district councilor, who advocates building up humus above all.

“Agriculture can help to influence climate change.

But that requires binding guidelines. "

Koch calls for more concrete support

Klaus Koch also complained about their absence.

“Without specific guidelines, we won't be able to get the necessary investments off the ground,” said the third district administrator with regard to local public transport, for him “our biggest board.

It is really bad that only warm air comes from Munich, ”said Koch.

He would like more concrete support.

For one or the other listener it sounded, as could be read in the chat, "everything is so pessimistic", which is why Martin Stümpfig tried to find a few positive words in the end.

“Hopefully it's not that we're leaving a depressed impression here.

There are a lot of things that go really well.

We're pushing pretty hard, ”said the climate policy spokesman.

In summary of the new climate protection law, he stated: “We have wasted a lot of time.

It doesn't break anything, but it doesn't help either. ”And if all else fails, there is still an option that has already saved the bees:“ Why not make a referendum? ”There was encouragement - on the podium as well as in the chat.
