The ceremony in memory of the companion of the Liberation who died on Friday should take place at the Invalides. Emmanuel Macron, who knew him

The preparation of the national tribute to Daniel Cordier, a great figure of the resistance who died on Friday at the age of 100, is becoming clearer.

While the place is almost no longer a mystery - the Invalides - the date chosen by the authorities and the family of the deceased has, according to our information, been set for next Thursday.

Given the health circumstances, the tribute will however take place in a restricted format, with a limited number of people.

The organization of this ceremony is between General Christian Baptiste, national delegate of the Order of the Companions of the Liberation, and the Elysee.

Emmanuel Macron will deliver a speech on this occasion in memory of this great figure of the Resistance whom he knew well "and for whom he had a lot of affection and esteem", slips the entourage of the Head of State.

He had even called him recently after his release from the hospital.

Friday, a few moments after his death, the president had already paid tribute to the deceased centenary "whose whole life will have combined the love of France and the passion for freedom".

“With him, it is the living memory of the Resistance that is extinguished.

He had gone through what our history is most burning, most painful, but also more heroic, ”he insisted in a statement.
