The Supreme Council for Tourism, during its meeting today headed by Prime Minister Hussein Arnous and Chairman of the Supreme Council for Tourism, approved the implementation of a tourist park project dedicated to domestic and popular tourism in the vicinity of Zarzar Lake in the Damascus countryside governorate, to be in service during the coming summer.

The council decided to secure the necessary funding to carry out and complete the archaeological excavations in the Amrit area, in order to ensure the completion of planning and organizational work in order to start offering investment sites there.

The council assigned the ministries of culture, tourism, local administration and the environment to present a memorandum that includes hotels of a distinctive urban character located in the centers of the governorates of Damascus, Aleppo, Homs and Lattakia, whose owners and investors wish to carry out renovation and rehabilitation work for their facilities to upgrade the urban fabric in the centers of those cities and improve the tourist and service specifications of these facilities to be studied. By the Supreme Council for Tourism and taking the necessary action in this regard.

The Council requested the Peasants Union to submit a memorandum that includes the economic feasibility of the proposed contract to invest the Al-Basit Tourist Project site for study by the Ministry of Tourism and to include it with exemptions and facilities in accordance with the relevant decisions of the Council.

Arnous affirmed the continuous endeavor to provide the necessary support for the tourism sector to advance it again and overcome the challenges imposed by the war on it and to play its economic and social role in local development, provide work opportunities, re-take off damaged tourism facilities, stimulate popular tourism, create sites dedicated to this in places of tourist visit in the governorates, and activate participation With the private sector and popular organizations, in addition to preparing the qualified, trained and specialized academic cadres needed by tourism facilities of all types and levels.

Tourism Minister Mohamed Rami Martini made a presentation on the reality of the tourism sector and government measures to develop it, pointing to the signing of contracts for ten tourism projects worth 900 billion liras according to current prices during the tourism investment forum last year, including ten thousand workers with unemployment grant and granting loans to restart the damaged facilities and hold training courses An advanced visual interactive method targeting school students, institutes, tourist and hotel centers, hotel employees, students of the College of Tourism, and job seekers.

The Ministries of Tourism, Higher Education and Scientific Research were mandated to present a common vision for the development of tourism educational curricula and to provide the necessary academic cadres to upgrade the college and institutes of tourism and to link education outputs to the labor market and its needs.
