The report also shows that the downward trend in the number and rate of indictments filed by the State Attorney's Office for rape continues.

In 23.4% of the cases opened last year, the victim is a boy or girl up to the age of 12 and in 27.8% the victim is a boy or a girl up to the age of 18. That is, in half of the cases these are minors.

81% of the cases were opened due to injury to women, girls or girls, and 19% - to injury to men, boys or children.

The State Attorney's Office opened 4,021 sexual offense cases and 694 sexual harassment cases last year.

In addition, 394 cases were opened for sexual offenses in the family and by a person responsible for helplessness - an increase of about 20% compared to 2018, when 331 cases were opened.



The data also show that in 2019, the IDF's Yaholam unit received 1,975 complaints of sexual assault, but in the IDF only 157 cases of sexual offenses were opened this year, and the military prosecutor's office handled 166 cases, compared to 136 in 2018 or 104 in 2014.
