Before the collapse, gigantic sums of money flowed out of the Wirecard Group over the years. The main architect of this system was probably the fleeting ex-board member Jan Marsalek - but he had important helpers.

His champagne lunches on Ibiza have already cost five-digit amounts, reports acquaintances.

He had spent similar sums on vases in his office in Munich's posh Bogenhausen district.

At least that's what the price tags showed that V. hung up.

The investor also did not hide his tendency to choleric failures.

Many a visit to the business lounge at the airport ended in a roar.

And occasionally he even pondered in front of a larger audience about doing physical violence to a board member.
