The Knesset today (Monday) marked the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, which will take place on Wednesday.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his wife Sarah spoke during the event, which was initiated by Minister of Community Advancement Orly Levy Abkasis and MK Osnat Mark (Likud), and was organized with the participation of women's organizations.

Netanyahu said during the event that he would work to implement the initiative to establish the National Authority for the Prevention of Domestic Violence.

"No man is another person's property," he added, "children and women live under violence and it is horrible to see. It connects us all in society, there is no cultural justification for violence against women, abuse and not murder. They should disappear from the world."

"We will establish the National Authority for the Prevention of Domestic Violence."
