Moscow - SANA
The Russian Ministry of Defense announced today that more than 1,400 Armenian refugees have returned to the Nagorno Karabakh region under the supervision of Russian peacekeepers.
Russia Today quoted the ministry as saying in a statement that "Russian peacekeepers accompanied a new convoy of buses that transported refugees from the territory of the Republic of Armenia to Karabakh."
In turn, Karabakh President Araik Harutyunyan said that 25,000 refugees have returned to the region during the past 5 days, indicating that the process is proceeding at a rapid pace.
Armenia and Azerbaijan signed, under the auspices of Russia, a ceasefire agreement in Nagorny Karabakh, which entered into force on November 10, and provides for the stopping of Armenian and Azerbaijani forces at their current locations and the deployment of Russian peacekeepers along the line of contact in Karabakh and the corridor connecting the Armenian lands and the region .
