The adviser told the Wall Street Journal that the two had discussed the issue of the Iranian threat and that it was a significant step forward.

Prime Minister Netanyahu and Regent Ben Salman discussed normalization and the issue of the Iranian threat, a senior Saudi adviser told the Wall Street Journal today (Monday).

According to the source who spoke with the American newspaper, no substantive agreements were reached at the meeting, but this is a dramatic and positive progress towards an agreement between the countries mediated by the United States.

A senior source confirmed to Israel Today that Netanyahu and Ben Salman met in a speech in Saudi Arabia.

The senior source added that the meeting was accompanied by the head of the Mossad, Yossi Cohen.

Senior Israeli officials discussed relations with Saudi Arabia.

The agreement in principle on the meeting between Netanyahu and the regent was determined during the talks held by the head of the National Security Council, Meir Ben Shabbat, during his visit to Bahrain a month ago.

Against the background of tensions in the unity government, a senior source confirmed that the replacement Prime Minister and Defense Minister Ganz were not updated on the matter of the meeting, nor was Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi.

Israel Today has learned that the leak of the meeting between the parties was with the consent of Saudi Arabia, but came out earlier than planned.

According to a government official in Riyadh and a senior security official in Israel, the intention was to leak some of the details in the coming hours, but after the Israeli media reported on the cancellation of the cabinet meeting and the flight path, there was no choice.

The Saudis, for their part, did not officially confirm the meeting, but neither did they deny it.

In any case, those who shared the secret were close to the regent.

The background to the tripartite meeting with Pompeo was prepared by Elliott Abrahams, an adviser to the US administration for the region.

Earlier, the Intel Times website revealed that a flight took off from Israel to Saudi Arabia, and returned to Israel after a few hours.

This is a plane that is not Israeli, but was supposed to be used by the prime minister in the past for a flight to the peace agreements in the United States, which ultimately did not happen.

On Saturday night, Netanyahu announced the cancellation of the cabinet meeting scheduled to take place yesterday, on the false pretext related to the issues of the "Shield 2" application.

Sources involved in the details told Israel Today that nothing has changed from yesterday to today on the issue of digital location, and the meeting was apparently canceled due to the secret meeting.

The Prime Minister's Office refused to comment.

Recall that both Trump and Netanyahu have said in recent weeks that there are other Arab countries interested in signing agreements with Israel.

Pompeo himself also said yesterday that there may be an addition of additional states to the Abrahamic agreements.

As mentioned, Saudi Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman met with the Secretary of State at the airport in a speech yesterday.

The two discussed mutual relations, regional issues and ways to tighten them.

The Saudi news agency reported that the meeting also included Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal Ben Farhan and US Ambassador to the Kingdom John Abizaid. The Saudi Foreign Minister recently stated that any agreement with Israel would follow an agreement with the Palestinians.
