Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Saudi Arabia's heir to the throne, Muhammad bin Salman, discussed during their secret meeting on Iran and normalization with Israel, a senior Saudi Arabian official quoted in the Wall Street Journal said Monday.

According to the same source, no agreements were reached at the meeting, which was also attended by US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.

Netanyahu secretly flew to the city of Ni'om yesterday, but Netanyahu's office refused to comment on the news.

The head of the Mossad, Yossi Cohen, accompanied him on the trip, which took place on the plane of businessman Udi Angel.

According to flight tracking sites, the plane took off from Israel to Saudi Arabia around 20:00 last night, flew directly to the Red Sea coast for a speech and took off back to Israel after five hours.

At the time Netanyahu flew, the Corona cabinet meeting was scheduled to take place.

On Saturday night, the Prime Minister's Office announced that the meeting would be postponed to Monday because Ministers Zeev Elkin and Yizhar Shai had not finished preparing recommendations for the use of digital means to curb the disease.

Israeli officials say it was a cover story for Netanyahu's trip.

A senior source also said that Netanyahu did not update Defense Minister Bnei Gantz and Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi on his flight.

Shortly after the announcement, Netanyahu's adviser, Topaz Locke, tweeted: "Ganz is doing politics while the prime minister is making peace."
