Skeptical city councilors, fire department says “indispensable”: Tonight it's about a bridge over the Maisinger Bach between Söcking and Neusöcking as a fire department approach.

Söcking / Starnberg - It will be at least six, more likely eight years, before the B 2 tunnel is released.

The fire brigades, especially Starnberg's lead commander, Markus Grasl, have been racking their brains for years about how to handle operations in tunnels.

There are some reports on this, promising demands on the construction such as extinguishing systems and elevators - some things are going too slowly for the fire department advisor of the city council, Franz Heidinger (BLS).

That is why he asked for a few subjects to be discussed in the Council.

The motion is on the agenda this evening (Monday, 6.30 p.m., Schlossberghalle), but it shouldn't be concrete yet.

One topic here: a bridge between Söcking and Neusöcking, which a year ago had found little approval from many city councilors.

Fire officer feels left out

Heidinger wants the city council to deal intensively with certain aspects of fire protection during the construction and operation of the tunnel.

He requests that experts in the council report both on the construction site rescue and fire protection concept - this also includes the question of a plant fire brigade during construction - and on concepts for defensive fire protection in operation.

Heidinger also wants to talk about the plan change procedure and the installation and movement areas of the fire brigade - and about the Maisinger Bach Bridge.

The fire department officer feels excluded from the preparations because he cannot take part in meetings.

The city needs planning, both for the construction phase and for operation.

The reports should be presented to the council so that it would know what to expect in the city.

It is also about the financial consequences.

The city administration wants to suggest that the council discuss the application in the fire service committee in early 2021.

City councils express concerns: Bridge location in the water protection area

The bridge that Grasl applied for around two years ago is a particularly urban problem.

"We could have planned that long ago," says the commander.

He wants the possibility of passage because the Söcking weir (and others from the west) would be several minutes faster at the south portal - and also at the new development area Am Wiesengrund and the forest playground.

At the moment, the journeys are very long, and compliance with the deadline is problematic.

A year ago in the fire brigade committee, several city councilors expressed massive concerns that a bridge there could damage the surface layer of the groundwater layers - and the city draws part of its drinking water from this groundwater.

The bridge location - there is currently a pedestrian bridge there - is in the water protection area.

Furt conceivable as an alternative to a bridge?

Commander Grasl refuses

Grasl, on the other hand, sees no problem in the protected area: Exceptions for rescue vehicles are possible and sufficient - not for individual vehicles, but in general.

Because: Should a fire break out in the tunnel, not only the Söcking fire brigade would have to go to the south portal.

It would have long been possible to check whether a bridge would endanger the groundwater.

Grasl wants to block the passage with a barrier that can only be opened by the fire brigade (or automatically in the event of an alarm).

UWG City Councilor Dr.

Thorsten Schüler is meanwhile pursuing a different idea - a ford, so the fire trucks would drive through the stream.

There is such a thing next to the bridge from earlier times.

“Due to the low water level almost all year round, only the wheels of the vehicles will likely come into contact with the water when passing through.

Since the Maisinger Bach flows away from the nearby well at the same time and there is no connection to the groundwater, I don't see any dangers with regard to the drinking water obtained nearby.

So far I have not taken any statements to the contrary from the replies from the authorities and experts, ”said Schüler on request.

A ford would also be much cheaper than a bridge for vehicles weighing 18 tons.

Grasl rejects this idea completely: “Out of the question.

Under certain circumstances, the ambulance and emergency doctor have to pass through. ”If on the one hand water protection is discussed, vehicles cannot be sent through the stream.

Heidinger is also critical of the idea.

“I don't know how to imagine that.

What about when there is a flood? "

Inquiries since the consultation a year ago

The city has been investigating the situation since the committee discussed it a year ago.

The town hall made inquiries in the district office, which both authorities confirm.

A planning examination of the feasibility and the ability to obtain a permit under water law was initiated by the city administration, said city hall spokeswoman Lena Choi.

The administration wanted to submit the matter to the city council when the fire brigade requirement plan was available - 2021. The city council would then also have to decide what should have priority.
