Today, the work of the first conference on issues of translation and education between the Russian and Arabic languages ​​began, with the participation of specialists from Syria and Russia, at the Russian Cultural Center in Damascus.

The participants discussed the importance of the translator's knowledge of the characteristics of the culture of the peoples of both countries, with the aim of avoiding possible errors in translation and working to activate translation from Russian into Arabic and vice versa, especially with regard to children's literature and educational, specialized and sworn translation.

In their interventions, the participants focused on the mechanism of translating acronyms, vocabulary and expressions, and how to move the translation from being an individual work to becoming an institutional collective work.

In a statement to reporters, the director of the Russian Cultural Center in Damascus, Nikolai Sukhov, explained that the importance of the conference lies in introducing it to specialists in this field from the two countries and exchanging their experiences and cultural products in addition to that it aims to strengthen cooperation between them and the center, pointing out that the conference brings together senior specialists in Syria who are working to advance the movement Translation has moved forward in various fields, especially scientific and professional translation and contemporary literature in both Russian and Arabic.

The conference also aims, according to Sukhov, to systematically establish the teaching of the Russian language to Arabs at various levels and to disseminate it on a wider scale, and to strengthen cooperation frameworks with the Syrian educational institutions represented by the Ministries of Education, Higher Education and Scientific Research to prepare Syrian students to pursue their education in the universities and institutes of the Russian Federation.

In his speech, the Director General of the Syrian General Authority for Book, Dr. Thaer Zain Al-Din, emphasized that translation is one of the most important channels through which mutual influences are made between peoples and nations and plays a great role in the various aspects of our scientific, intellectual, cultural and economic life, pointing to the merit of translation in developing the manners of nations and their languages ​​and creating races. In a similar speech, the head of the Arab Writers Union, Dr. Malik Saqour pointed out that the cultural relationship between Russia and Syria in translation dates back to the era of the Islamic conquests that facilitated the arrival of Arab Muslim merchants to the Russian north, stressing the importance of translation as one of the most important mental and intellectual activities of man and its impact on the development of civilizations and convergence. Cultures.

In turn, Dr. Raslan Alaa El-Din, who moderated the first session of the conference, expressed his hope that the conference would form a nucleus for the development of translation and raising its level and to expand the frameworks of cooperation between the educational institutions in the two countries and to reconsider the translations that were made in the previous stages, revealing the existence of a project to establish an arbitration committee for works and for translations issued To be credible and done with high professionalism.

In a statement to the SANA delegate, the writer and historian Dr. Ahmed Daoud considered that there is an urgent need today for translation from Arabic into Russian, and that the literary product should not only be translated, but rather the expansion of the translation of various sciences and historical discoveries, which is what Daoud was keen to implement through his translations of a number of books in the seventies of the last century, including "Historical materialism" and "this was on the outskirts of Rivne."

For his part, the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Human Sciences at Al-Baath University, Dr. Talal Al-Khalil, explained that his interest in the conference comes from the necessity of cultural communication between peoples and discussing issues of teaching the Russian language and translation, expressing his hope that the conference will be a good gesture towards the opening of a department of Russian literature at Al-Baath University and an attempt to launch new ideas Relate to the teaching of human etiquette.

The conference activities will continue until tomorrow and include dialogue sessions to discuss issues of teaching the Russian language to Arabs according to the axes (the importance of language in the post-ideological and post-globalization era) and (digital media for teaching the Russian language to foreigners) and models and experiences of its teaching.
