Avigdor Lieberman in court
Former Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman testified this morning (Tuesday) in the Magistrate's Court in Petah Tikva as part of the criminal complaint for defamation he filed against journalist Yoav Yitzhak.
Lieberman filed the complaint following two publications by Yitzhak on his website.
The first publication is on suspicion that a senior police officer has leaked sensitive information to Lieberman in recent years from investigations.
The second publication is a claim that Lieberman, as defense minister, worked to liberate a fire area for the developer Moshe Yeshayahu for the purpose of establishing the settlement of Neve Tamarim, after Lieberman's sons met with Yeshayahu.
Lieberman testified this morning: "Regarding the fact that I am defense minister, I removed opposition to the establishment of a settlement: nonsense that has no basis. The confirmation was given as early as 2001, that the children were 11 and 13. It's all an invention. "What is kept in the system? Let them tell the court who she is. This is also a plot."
He said, "In both cases it was published at a sensitive time ahead of the third election and without asking for a response. It was intended to harm me maliciously."
