In Moosach there is resistance to a Telekom cell phone mast. But the group is adamant.

In Moosach there is resistance to a Telekom cell phone mast.

But the group is adamant.

Moosach

- Despite Corona, the municipal council meeting in Moosach was well attended.

Even if the agenda did not seem spectacular at first glance, the audience seats were so well filled because of item 4 on the agenda: “Construction of a new steel lattice mast with radio technology - Grafinger Straße 13”.

There was a lot of need for discussion, not only among the municipal councils, but also on the part of the population.

Cell phone mast will be a good 24 meters high

Deutsche Telekom had - surprisingly for the community, as they learned - submitted a building application for the construction of such a cell phone mast at Grafinger Strasse 13, which the municipal councils had to decide on.

The transmitter mast, erected in the northeastern area of the aforementioned property, is to be a good 24 meters high.

The municipality usually helps to decide on potential locations for new masts.

Obviously that had not happened in Moosach.

Telekom: municipality missed voting process

In 2018, Deutsche Telekom approached the community and asked for a voting process.

A period of eight weeks is planned for this.

“Since the municipality failed to do this at the time,” said Frank Peter Käßler from Telekom who was connected via a stream, “we have now started looking for a suitable location on our own.

And now submitted a building application for it. ”At that time, according to the Telekom man - in 2018 - the municipality could have suggested alternative locations.

But now that is too late.

“There will be no further discussion about locations.

At some point the bag is closed. "

The man spoke of a perfectly normal process, of Telekom's good law.

That aroused people in Moosach.

Mayor Michael Eisenschmid would also have liked a different form of communication.

“I would have preferred a dialogue,” he said in front of the assembled team, “also with regard to a location search.” That is now too late, according to Käßler.

“We want to come to Potte now.

Telekom can't help the fact that the project was not communicated in the community.

We did everything right. "

Telekom refers to good liability insurance

Citizens were also allowed to have their say before the vote.

From the abundance of requests to speak it was easy to see that so many people do not agree with this new cell tower.

Security concerns, a possible monopoly position of Telekom or the question of liability with regard to the future 5G network, which is to be operated there over the existing frequencies, were addressed.

“Should there be any damage due to 5G, who is liable then?” Telecom has good liability insurance, Käßler answered this question briskly.

In addition: “Mobile communications have been around for 40 years.

How much damage have you heard about? ”That was not enough.

“Now we are faced with a fait accompli, even though we don't want it that way,” said one resident.

The transmission mast, however, had to be built “because politicians have decided to provide better coverage for rural areas,” explained Käßler and made it clear: “On average, every person has 1.6 to 1.7 mobile devices.

The data volume increases by 60 percent per year.

Therefore we have to relieve the existing networks and create new locations for transmitter masts. "

When asked, it became clear that in the event of future technical changes, even if a possible 6G network was developed, it would no longer have to obtain approval, but only had to inform the municipality.

“That means: one time yes, and then they can do what they want,” said an angry citizen.

It also became clear that this transmission mast is operated exclusively by Telekom, "unless politicians make different requirements." It could well be that "all other radio operators will soon want to erect masts as well."

Opponents want a referendum

This thought of a Moosacher could not be negated.

After a long and intensive discussion, the local council finally granted the building application, but not unanimously.

Eight council members voted in favor, four against.

The displeasure of the listeners became apparent after the meeting on the street: They don't want to just accept it and are already preparing steps against these transmission masts.

"There are possibilities," they suggested.

What the opponents want is a referendum.
