  • Several Murnau municipal councils think that the culture and conference center (KTM) should be on the list of priorities.

  • However, concepts for the library and the KTM are not yet available.

  • The combing exercises restraint.

Murnau

- How will the Murnau Culture and Conference Center (KTM) continue?

This question has now popped up in the budget deliberations.

Green group spokeswoman Veronika Jones suggested that the building be "pimped up" and stressed that the community should also implement things that were once decided.

The parliamentary group spokesmen Maria Schägger (Free Voters) and Phillip Zoepf suggested putting the KTM on the list of priorities.

"So that we don't lose sight of it," said Zoepf.

If it's on the priority list, you know what the whole thing costs, argued Schägger.

Skepticism in the combing

The deputy treasurer Josef Brückner was reluctant.

Spoke of the "desirable and feasible".

He could not imagine "that we can afford a bigger investment" without taking out a loan or raising taxes.

"We're talking about millions," emphasized Brückner.

Voices from the CSU parliamentary group

Franz Neuner (CSU) thought it was right to keep an eye on the topic of KTM.

However, he noted that nobody knew how the conference business would develop in the wake of the corona pandemic.

In his opinion, one should wait and see.

Lorenz Brey (CSU) added: "We should only start planning when we have the necessary change."

Decision of 2019

Flashback: In April 2019, the group of Mehr Bewegen, together with cultural advisor Dr.

Elisabeth Tworek (then the SPD parliamentary group, today at Mehr Bewegen) submitted an application.

This envisaged a redesign of the community library.

The applicants also suggested a new room concept for the KTM.

The main administrative committee and the municipal council voted in principle in May 2019.

The new library management was given the task of developing a new concept.

"The vacant rooms can be included, provided they can also be used for tourism," it said.

This meant the tourist information office, which moved to the town hall in mid-2019.

The councils also decided at the time that a concept for realigning the KTM should also be drawn up or examined.

The proposal by Hans Kohl (Greens) to move the library to the old post office also dates from 2019.

It has not yet been decided whether the KTM will be on the priority list.

One thing is certain: Neither a concept for the library nor one for the KTM as a whole is available to this day.

"We have both on the screen and stay tuned," said town hall spokeswoman Annika Röttinger yesterday.

Zoepf sees potential for the off-season

According to Zoepf, the Audit Committee had already identified a need for development for both the library and the KTM in the past.

The spokesman for the Mehr-Bewegen parliamentary group recalled that a few years ago the name was changed from “Kurgästehaus” to “Culture and Conference Center”.

“Namely with the background of making the purpose of the building clearer.

Better capacity utilization at meetings and congresses automatically affects both the hotel and catering industry and retail trade. ”Zoepf sees development potential in the off-season in particular.

“In my opinion, this is a profitable investment that has potential for Murnau.” Maybe even for the time after the pandemic, “to promote the local economy”.
