Hong Kong D100 network host Jess (formerly known as Yin Yaosheng), his wife Zeng Biyun and assistant Li Baoli were arrested by officers of the Hong Kong Police Force’s National Security Department on November 21 on suspicion of "funding others to split the country with money or other properties" and money laundering. Later, the US State Department’s Chief Deputy Spokesperson Cale Brown said on November 23 that the US is deeply concerned about this and pointed out that this is another example of the CCP’s violation of human rights and freedom of the press.

Brown mentioned in a post on the social networking site Twitter that the United States is deeply concerned about the incident involving the arrest of three people in connection with the National Security Act. He also said that this is another example of the Chinese Communist Party’s violation of human rights and freedom of the press with its Hong Kong agent.

The US is deeply concerned about the arrests of Hong Kong journalist Wan Yiu-sing, his wife, and his assistant on national security law-related charges. Another example of the Chinese Communist Party and their Hong Kong proxies' assault on human rights and press freedom.

In this incident, it is understood that Jess launched a fund-raising program called "A Thousand Parents, Taiwanese Aid" on the Internet.

The police alleged that some people claimed that the money raised would be used to support those who left Hong Kong due to the demonstrations and provided their bank account information for collection purposes. After investigation, the staff of the National Security Department suspected that someone had illegally misappropriated and processed part of the money and funded secessionist activities. People and organizations in the United States, then arrested 1 man and 2 women, aged between 50 and 53, who were suspected of "using money or other property to subsidize others to split the country" and "handling the benefits of indictable crimes represented by known or believed Property” (commonly known as “money laundering”).

The police said that the three arrested persons have been released on bail pending further investigation and must report to the police in late January 2021.
