The Kowloon East Branch of the Democratic Alliance for Betterment of Hong Kong today (24) petitioned outside the government headquarters for an additional testing center to facilitate and encourage the public to undergo testing.
The Deputy Secretary-General of the Democratic Alliance for the Betterment of Hong Kong and Kwun Tong District Councillor Yan Man Yu said that Kowloon East has a population of more than 1 million, with the elderly and the grassroots in the majority. He emphasized that the district is in great need of testing centers and it is difficult to understand the government's original site selection criteria.
Regarding Chief Executive Carrie Lam’s point this morning that the service locations for the distribution of deep-throat saliva sample bottles will be extended to 121 post offices in Hong Kong. The Kowloon East Branch of the Democratic Alliance for the Betterment of Hong Kong went to the Political Consultative Conference to submit a petition letter to the Food and Health Bureau.
Deputy Secretary-General Li Ronghao of the DAB stated that there is no testing center in Kowloon East alone, so residents in the district have to cross-district testing, failing to achieve the effect of encouraging testing.
He also criticized the rapid severity of the epidemic because the government did not perform adequate quarantine work on foreign visitors to Hong Kong.
Member of the Kowloon East Legislative Council, Ko Chongsheng, also suggested that the government should further tighten hotel arrangements for quarantine persons to avoid failure to centralize supervision and spread the epidemic.
Ko Chongsheng also emphasized that if it has been unable to cut off the source of the epidemic, it will continue to toss. It is impossible for the government not to implement mandatory testing for all people. He criticizes the government for not "sighing slow". The government should be on high alert and absorb the experience of the past few months.
He also pointed out that the current community testing center fails to provide services for children aged 6 or below, which violates the purpose of everyone participating.
