In order to protect their singers from corona infection, the Bruck choir community will not only rely on distance, hygiene and ventilation in the future.

When the singing starts again after the lockdown has ended, an air purifier will be in the rehearsal room.

Fürstenfeldbruck -

"Everyone is talking about these devices," says Helga Lindner.

The chairwoman of the choir community got detailed information about the various techniques of the air purifiers and even visited a manufacturer in Ulm-Elchingen to have the selected model demonstrated.

The device changes all of the room air six times an hour.

Viruses that could be contained in the aerosols emitted when singing are rendered harmless at a heat of 70 degrees.

The prerequisite is that the 1.50 meter high, 55 kilo tower is optimally placed in the room.

Lindner asked the manufacturer to show him where the best position was based on a sample room plan.

It cannot be avoided that the air purifier does not do its job completely silently.

Lindner compares the noise development with the "very quietest level of a modern vacuum cleaner - you can live with that".

The device should be delivered at the beginning of December.

Until then, due to the lockdown, no rehearsal operation is possible anyway.

The choir director hopes that the singers will feel even more secure in the future, especially since the Corona requirements continue to apply.

"Of course, the device does not release us from meticulously adhering to the distance and hygiene rules."

Foolish anticipation

The majority of the members reappeared in the clubhouse from June onwards and were "foolishly" happy to return to rehearsals.

"What we also missed was the cordiality that was practiced," says Helga Lindner.

“We are not 'the choir', we are the choir family.” But some older people and those with previous illnesses have preferred to stay at home since the beginning of the pandemic.

A few medics among the singers also stay away.

You not only want to avoid infection, but also the risk of having to be in quarantine as a contact person.

The air purifier could encourage everyone back home to come back.

Perhaps, Helga Lindner hopes, he will even motivate one or two new interested parties to join the choir community.

The device cost a four-digit sum - not a sticky stick, especially in this year of unusual appearances.

Therefore the choir is still looking for donations.

Donors should have the opportunity to put their signature or company logo on the air purifier.
