The Centre for Health Protection of the Department of Health announced tonight (24th) that an upper respiratory tract infection broke out in Kwun Tong Government Primary School, involving 22 school children, 19 of whom have sought medical treatment. The Centre for Health Protection announced an outbreak of upper respiratory tract infection in Kwun Tong Government Primary School at 240 Ngau Tau Kok Road. The affected children involved 12 boys and 10 girls, aged between 6 and 9.

They have had symptoms such as cough, runny nose and sore throat since November 1. 19 of the 22 people have sought medical treatment. All of them are in stable condition and do not need to be hospitalized.

The center has provided advice to schools on the prevention of respiratory tract infections, and schools that broke out are under medical supervision.

This week, there have been outbreaks of upper respiratory tract infections in 18 schools and institutions, affecting a total of 82 people.

The number of affected children has dropped sharply compared to the previous two weeks, which is believed to be related to the suspension of primary schools.
