The Chamber of Deputies is preparing to begin debating the abortion legalization project sent by President Alberto Fernández, in extraordinary sessions,

starting next week

.

The president of the Chamber, Sergio Massa, led a meeting with the heads of the four commissions to which the text will be turned to define the discussion methodology.

The treatment will be in parallel to the 1000-day project, which could begin to be debated this Friday in the Health and Budget committees.

The meeting was virtually attended by the presidents of the General Legislation committees, Cecilia Moreau;

of Health, Pablo Yedlin;

of Women and Diversity, Mónica Macha and of Penal Legislation, Carolina Gaillard.

The four belong to the Front of All and are in favor of the initiative.

There were also the vices.

Among them, Carmen Polledo (PRO), a reference of the "celestial" groups.

At the meeting it was defined that General Legislation will be the head and that the first meeting of commissions will be informative,

with the participation of Executive officials:

the Minister of Health, Ginés González García, Vilma Ibarra and Daniel Arroyo.

On Thursday the presidents and vice presidents will meet again with Massa to present the final debate scheme.

In this first meeting, the possibility of defining

between 30 and 60 speakers divided into four groups

was raised

:

scientists;

doctors and sanitaristas;

ethical or religious referents;

and jurists.

"One green, one light blue will be featured," they said.

In a first calculation, they

estimate between 4 and 5

committee

meetings

, which could take more than a month of debate if held once a week but, as in 2018, they foresee more than one day a week with extended hours between the morning and the afternoon.

Regarding the tone of the debate, the Presidency, together with the benches, will seek to negotiate

a resolution of the Chamber

to request that a respectful tone of debate be agreed upon, in which it is not derogatory.

"Do not talk about 'anti rights' or 'murderers'," they

say.

In turn, the Chamber will assign a group of lawyers to carry out the corresponding complaints in the event of violent escraches, threats or attacks.

Although the bill entered Congress last week, the regular session expires next Monday.

Therefore, the debate will already be part of extraordinary.

It is expected that President Alberto Fernández will convene them with the defined agenda.
