After weeks of closure, “
non-essential
” businesses will finally be able to welcome their customers again from this Saturday, November 28.
This is what Emmanuel Macron announced this Tuesday evening during a televised address.
And one good news can hide another.
Shortly after the president's speech, the mayor of Paris announced the possibility for traders to temporarily create free outdoor displays during the
“vital”
period
of the end of year celebrations.

"In order to promote compliance with health measures of physical distancing and to support them economically, the City of Paris will allow them to create open-air stands from December 1 to January 3"
, in parking spaces or sidewalks, if the The location allows it, said the City, confirming information from the Parisian.
The principle will be the same as for the ephemeral extensions of terraces that the town hall authorized after the first containment in the spring, each merchant can request it by a simple declaration.
"These extensions can be operated during store opening hours"
, that is to say until 9:00 p.m. at the latest throughout the national territory, as clarified by Emmanuel Macron.
However, outdoor heating will be prohibited and structures must not impede the movement of disabled people or pedestrians on protected passages.
In return, Parisian merchants will have to
"sign a charter committing them in particular to ensuring compliance with health measures in their establishment, the cleanliness of public spaces, the safety of their customers and the tranquility of residents"
.
Professionals not respecting these commitments
"will be exposed to sanctions,"
said the town hall.
"A very good news"
Relieved to see their curtains up on Saturday, the traders welcome this opportunity.
The Confederation of French Traders (CDF) thus enthusiastically welcomed this initiative: "
it is very good news that the mayor of Paris is taking this decision
", assures Bénédicte Boudet-Corric, general delegate of the CDF.
And all the more so as the new sanitary protocol which will come into force as soon as the shops reopen will be stricter.

While the occupancy gauge was set at one person per 4 square meters, it will be extended to one person per 8 square meters.
A handicap for businesses “
which are on average 30 to 50 square meters.
Most will only accommodate 5 to 6 people at the same time
. ”
Being able to sell in front of your business is therefore a major advantage for traders, because “
if you can't push the walls, you can expand thanks to the outdoor space.
