Several hundred migrants had set up their tents on Place de la République yesterday, before being evacuated by the police.

The Ministers of Citizenship Marlène Schiappa and Housing Emmanuelle Wargon asked Tuesday for support "

without delay

" for the hundreds of migrants once again wandering after the violent dismantling of a Parisian encampment by the police .

"

The two ministers are mobilizing the state administrations so that support solutions are found without delay for people in distress

", they wrote in a joint statement, a few hours after the dismantling on Monday evening of around 500 tents set up by exiles and their supporters at Place de la République.

"

240 places have already been identified by the prefect of the Ile-de-France region, in the reception and examination center for administrative situations and in emergency accommodation structures

," continued Marlène. Schiappa and Emmanuelle Wargon, who "

wish to recall that migrants are people who must be treated with humanity and fraternity

".

After evacuating this informal camp by tearing the tents from exiles who were sometimes still inside, the police then used tear gas and de-encircling grenades in the streets of central Paris to disperse the groups of migrants and associative activists.

The violence of the dismantling of this camp, which mainly featured Afghan men who in turn demanded emergency accommodation after a previous dismantling in the Paris suburbs last week, sparked a wave of indignation in the associative and political world, until in the ranks of the majority.

Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin spoke on Monday evening of “

Young migrants demand accommodation in front of the Ministry of Health

For the association Utopia56, which helped the exiles to set up their camp Monday, it would be necessary "

the creation of 1,000 places of immediate and unconditional accommodation in order to be able to put

" these people "

in the shelter

".

According to associations, between 500 and a thousand exiles were "

left behind

" after the evacuation last Tuesday in Saint-Denis (Seine-Saint-Denis), at the end of which some 3000 people had benefited from a sheltering in centers and gymnasiums in Ile-de-France.

For the hundreds of others, a wandering then began on the edge of Paris and Seine-Saint-Denis and continued late Tuesday morning.

In several videos posted on social networks by activists and journalists, we see the police escorting groups of exiles to the northern gates of Paris, where food distributions were organized in the middle of the night.

That night, after the violent expulsion from (the Place de la) République, the exiled people wandered the streets, pushed back by the police to Aubervilliers and Saint-Denis.

We gave them our last tents and blankets,

”wrote Utopia56.

In the video posted with this text, we see clusters of young men walking through the night pulling a cart on wheels, carrying things in backpacks or backpacks.
