The open markets are expected to open this coming Thursday.

In a meeting held today (Tuesday) between Finance Minister Israel Katz and representatives of the open markets committees, it was agreed that an outline would be formulated to operate the markets, such as the one prepared for the malls, so that they would operate in parallel.

Earlier today, Carmel Market traders threatened to open the market this coming Monday, contrary to instructions, if their opening is not announced in the coming days.

Merchant Rina Sassi, who sells olives in the Carmel market in Tel Aviv, told Israel Today: "Unfortunately, we are not treated like everyone else. For almost three months we have been sitting quietly, respecting the law and trying to survive. We will have a meeting with the mayor. "Open the stalls - everything will be fine. If it does not work out, all the owners of the stalls will open on Monday."

She added: "We have considered so far, but people have nothing to live on. For 60 years the merchants have been used to going to work every day. Now we have to pay property taxes and taxes. With us people have not studied at university and want to earn a decent living. We have respected all Ministry of Health decisions. However, the malls are opening around and people are still touring the market because they want to come into the open air.

"All the markets were opened except us. For example, the Mahane Yehuda market and Hatikva market are open. Instead of them coming to us, into the open air, the closed street shops are allowed to work with restrictions, which creates queues. We did not have one person infected with Corona ten months ago. A lot of those who got infected. "

Sassi has also shared in the heavy economic struggles these days.

"In my case, the family helps a little bit and we use the savings," she said.

"My eldest son helps a little and so I survive. I can no longer be at home. I have been working in the market for over 40 years. It's not just the financial but the mental thing. My husband was injured in the attack 15 years ago, and since then I have been supporting the house. I have a kidney transplanted child at home. It's not an easy situation. I have to open - and right away. Even if they stop us, there is no choice. I have to bring food for the children. "I'm used to bringing bread with dignity. It's not easy to raise two disabled people at home."
