The Chinese Embassy in Brazil on Tuesday rejected the accusations of Deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro - President Bolsonaro's son - in which he accused the Asian country of cyber espionage.

"Such statements, unfounded, are not consistent with his position as president of the Foreign Relations Commission of the Chamber of Deputies," they said from the embassy in a statement.

The Chinese delegation said that it will carry out a formal management through diplomatic channels.

The Embassy also affirmed that the Chinese government encourages Chinese companies to operate based on science, facts and laws, and that it opposes any kind of speculation and unjustified defamation against them.

The statement urges to avoid misinformation and slander, and warns: "... otherwise, they will suffer negative consequences and will have the historical responsibility of disrupting the normality of the China-Brazil partnership."

In a series of tweets published on Monday, which he later deleted, Bolsonaro wrote that Brazil supports a US project for 5G, which "moves away from Chinese technology."

  • Is 5G technology the bone of contention in the trade war between China and the US?

"The government of Jair Bolsonaro declared its support for the Clean Network alliance, launched by the government of Donald Trump, creating a global alliance for a safe 5G, without spying from China," the deputy wrote without providing any proof.

Speaking to CNN Brazil, Bolsonaro said that he deleted the publication to avoid distortions: "I deleted it to leave no margin or to associate a personal opinion with a government position."

CNN has contacted the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and has not yet received a response.
