Defense Minister Bnei Gantz, Finance Minister Israel Katz and Defense Ministry Minister Michael Bitton agreed today (Wednesday) on a special assistance package to be provided to soldiers released in the past year, following the damage they experienced from the Corona crisis.

The outline that has been agreed upon includes several aid schemes in a graded manner, so that individual soldiers who are entitled to family payments will receive a higher grant than the other soldiers.

According to the outline, individual soldiers who were released this year will be entitled to a NIS 4,500 grant, soldiers who served more than 22 months will be entitled to a NIS 1,800 grant, and soldiers who served less than 22 months will be entitled to a NIS 1,000 grant.

It was also decided to extend to the soldiers who have been discharged in the last two years the period during which they will be able to work in a preferred job for another year.

In addition, professional training for discharged soldiers will be conducted to help the discharged soldier population integrate into the employment market.

The tracks are expected to increase employment rates among discharged soldiers and lead to an increase in wages in industries where there is demand and thus increase productivity and GDP over time.

Defense Minister Bnei Gantz said: "One of the populations most affected by the Corona crisis is the discharged soldiers - who are not entitled to unemployment benefits. We will not leave any soldiers behind, and we will make every effort to help them get through the crisis, and emerge stronger - while emphasizing aid. For the lone soldiers and those who do not have assistance from home. "

Minister of Finance Israel Katz: "It is precisely during this period that we must give the discharged soldiers, who have just finished their contribution to the security of the State of Israel, the best toolbox for the new path they are embarking on in order to integrate them into the labor market and take care of their future.

Along with the benefits and grants, a system of professional training is currently being set up for veterans.

We will continue to help them and provide as broad a support as necessary. "
