The question of immunity after a corona infection has not yet been clarified.
Now two studies give reason for hope.
Researchers from the
USA
and
Great Britain
publish new studies on corona *
immunity
.
Immune cells
against the
coronavirus
are said to remain in the human body for a very long time.
The
studies
have
not yet been reviewed
by other
scientists
.
Kassel - According to a study from
Great Britain
, the immune protection against renewed
corona
infection should last longer than initially assumed.
Study researches corona immunity: the risk of re-infection within six months is low
According to the findings of scientists at the
University of Oxford
, the probability of
getting
infected
again with the
coronavirus
within six months is
quite low.
The results of the study are "very encouraging," said Professor David Eyre.
Because they suggest that most people who were
infected
with
Covid-19 will
not get the disease again, at least in the short term.
The researchers wanted to use the
study to
explain how long the immunity
lasts
after a
corona infection
, as this could also be
extremely important
for the effectiveness of a possible
vaccine
.
According to the scientists,
immunity
could last for more than six months, but not enough data have been collected to do this.
In addition, the study has not yet been independently reviewed by several subject matter experts.
Second study from the USA: Corona patients had immunity for up to eight months
But
researchers
in the
USA
have now also come to interesting results.
As in
Great Britain
, an American team of scientists examined
immunity
after infection with the
SARS-CoV-2
pathogen
.
185 people who were already
infected
with
Corona
and are now considered to have recovered
were examined
.
As the result shows, eight months after being
infected
with the
coronavirus,
most people who had recovered still had
enough immune cells to fight off a
second infection
with the virus and
prevent
severe symptoms such as
breathing difficulties
.

Immunity for Years?
Corona study from the USA gives hope
"The amount of immune memory will likely prevent the vast majority of people from having
to go to hospital
for a serious (
Covid-19
) illness
for many years
," Shane Crotty, a virologist at the
California institute
and a head of the study, told the New York Times.
As it is also said, the
immunity
against
corona could
in the best case even last for years.
There is, however, one downer: the study from
California
has not yet been
reviewed
by any other
researchers
.
