Business owners have claimed that their name is being harmed • The Ministry of Religions is sharpening its instructions to supervisors: Post details, but be careful with respect to a business that has removed a certificate for economic reasons

The rabbinate launches a battle against business owners who present themselves as kosher even though they have removed the certificate, threatening them with shaming.

In response to "Israel Today"'s request, the rabbinate says that this is not a move intended against the organization of Tzohar kashrut, but at the same time it can be estimated that business owners who present themselves as kosher may also suffer shaming.

According to the High Court's directive, it is forbidden for Tzohar to present themselves as a kosher organization, and therefore the words "kosher certificate" are not written on the certificate they grant.

In a special letter issued by Rabbi Yaakov Sabag, head of the national kashrut division, and Adv. Harel Goldberg, the legal advisor of the Ministry of Religions, they stated that the Ministry of Religions recently received inquiries from local rabbis about how to report businesses that have decided not to receive kosher supervision services. The reason for the questions is the harsh criticism leveled in the past against the rabbinate for publishing the names of businesses that did so. "It has been argued that these publications sometimes also included expressions that could be construed as harming the good name of business owners."

The two senior officials in the Ministry of Religions clarified that it is obligatory to publish that businesses that have held a kosher certificate so far no longer hold it, in order to warn diners who are used to eating in businesses.

"To the extent that the removal of kosher is due to a serious violation of kosher procedures in the restaurant, in a manner that justified the removal of the kosher certificate, subject to any law, the local rabbinate may publicize not only the removal of kosher, but also the reason for removal. To indicate in the publication a warning to the public not to fail. "

At the same time, they make it clear that if businesses remove the kashrut certificate for economic and other reasons, and not a kashrut failure that was discovered in it, care should be taken not to write phrases that could damage its reputation as a factor that stumbles the public.

"Care must be taken that warning words and the like do not appear in the publication, but to be satisfied with the publication of the removal of kosher food and the reason for this.
