Bahrain asked to hold the visit next to a trip to the UAE, which was postponed due to Independence Day celebrated next week • The trip in the Gulf is expected to take place in December
Bahrain has asked Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to postpone his visit to the kingdom, which will likely take place in December.
The delegation that left for Bahrain today (Wednesday) returned with the message that the kingdom wants the visit to take place in parallel with the trip to the UAE.
Next week the Arab Federation will celebrate Independence Day, so this was not possible.
Earlier this week, Israel Today learned that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is expected to visit Bahrain next week.
As part of this, Netanyahu was scheduled to meet with the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Bahrain, Prince Salman bin Hamad al-Khalifa.
A few days ago, Netanyahu spoke with the regent about strengthening ties between the two countries.
"We are both very excited about the fact that we can bring the fruits of peace to our peoples and our countries in a very short time. Therefore, he also invited me to come soon for an official visit to Bahrain - I will do so, on your mission, willingly," Netanyahu said.
A senior Foreign Ministry official in Manama told Israel Today this month that the King of Bahrain had proposed resuming negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians after a summit meeting.
According to the senior official, Jordanian King Abdullah gave his blessing to the possibility that such a summit would indeed take place, emphasizing that our country will assist as needed in the resumption of negotiations between the parties.
