Chief Executive Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor announced today (25th) the "Policy Address", stating that the Hong Kong International Airport "Space City" development project will be completed in phases from next year to 2027.
The AA will promote the "Space Corridor" and build an unmanned transportation system to connect the "Space City", the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Hong Kong Port and the Hong Kong International Airport. The next step will be extended to Tung Chung city centre.
According to government sources, the unmanned system is proposed to use electric unmanned vehicles similar to those used in the Tokyo Olympics. Each train can carry 10 to 20 people. It will only take 2 to 3 minutes from the "Space City" to the artificial island, from the bridge port and the airport. It only takes 10 to 15 minutes to reach the center of Tung Chung.

The AA plans to promote the "Space Corridor" to establish a complete and environmentally friendly transportation connection system to connect the airport island, the artificial island of the Hong Kong port and the Tung Chung city center.
The source said that the unmanned system of transportation is planned to use the electric unmanned vehicles used in the Tokyo Olympics plan. Each train can carry 10 to 20 people. It only takes 2 to 3 minutes to travel from the "Space City" to the artificial island.
Unmanned vehicles will drive on exclusive roads. In the next phase, the AA plans to extend the "Aerospace Corridor" to Tung Chung City Centre and integrate the coastal roads on the east side of the airport island. The Hong Kong Port of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge will also develop an automated parking lot for self-driving passengers from Guangdong and Macau who are going to the airport via the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge to transfer overseas or visit Hong Kong.
According to sources, the automated parking lot will be divided into two stages, the first stage being called "Park & Fly".
Passengers who drive to Hong Kong via the bridge can park their private cars in the parking lot and then go to the multimodal transit terminal in the restricted area of the airport, and then take the shuttle bus to the Hong Kong International Airport for boarding. During this period, they will be exempted from entering Hong Kong. .
The second stage is "Park & Shop", and travelers can also use this method to enter Hong Kong after parking.
Passengers who drive to Hong Kong via the bridge can park their private cars in the automated parking lot and then go to the Transit Passenger Terminal Building and then take the shuttle bus to Hong Kong International Airport to board their plane, avoiding the procedures for entering Hong Kong.

According to sources, the automated parking lot involves the construction of four 2-storey buildings with a total of 3,000 parking spaces.

Regarding Hong Kong-Zhuhai Airport cooperation, the AA will acquire shares in Zhuhai Airport under market-based rules, and the National Civil Aviation Administration has also agreed to start preparations for cross-border commercial helicopter services in Guangdong and Hong Kong.
According to sources, the Airport Authority and Zhuhai Airport are interested in cooperating, and Carrie Lam obtained the approval of the central government after her visit to Beijing.
