Iranian President Hassan Rouhani stressed that the next US administration must condemn the policies of outgoing President Donald Trump against Iran and compensate for Washington's past mistakes towards it.
"If the American administration adopts mutual respect in its foreign policy, it will be easy to solve the problems," Rouhani said at the Iranian government meeting today, adding, "The new American administration must work to reform and compensate for the mistakes that were made in the previous administration and fix incorrect policies.
Rouhani explained that Trump "committed the most heinous crimes, terrorist and brutal acts in the history of America against the Iranian people," considering that the end of the Trump era represents a victory for the Iranian people and a decisive defeat for the enemy in the economic war.
"Iran's policy is commitment in exchange for commitment and reducing tension in exchange for reducing tension, and if there is such a will among the future US rulers, it is easy to solve the problem," Rouhani said, pointing out that if America returns to the nuclear deal, many problems will be solved.
He added, "Both Iran and America can declare a return to what is stipulated in the nuclear agreement," indicating that his country "has been living an economic war for three years, but with the people's resistance we have overcome the pressures and this unjust war."
In May 2018, Trump announced his country's withdrawal from the nuclear agreement signed between Iran and the (Five + One) group in 2015, and the reinstatement of sanctions against Tehran, despite international opposition to that.
For his part, the head of the Islamic Consultative Assembly in Iran, Muhammad Baqir Qalibaf, stressed that the main solution to the economic problems that Iran faces is thwarting sanctions.
"Passing the sanctions requires strengthening the capabilities of the Iranian people, as the embargo can be lifted by making it useless," he said in a speech during a council meeting, adding, "We will approve an accurate budget for the next year with a vision of a comprehensive reform of the economic structure."
