The finance committee of the Tölzer city council now dealt with the popular city library.

Bad Tölz -

The latest Tölz Finance Committee meeting was not just about the new version of the dog tax statute.

The statutes for the use of the city library were also on the agenda.

This set of rules, like the one for dog tax, is now quite old.

It dates from 1985 and has not been updated since then, explained treasurer Hermann Forster.

Because it is so old, it does not contain any regulations for the use of PCs and the Internet in the library, for example, and in many points it simply no longer corresponds to actual practice.

Among other things, lending media is still free of charge according to the old statutes.

In fact, the library charges fees.

These were last set in 2005 by the Main and Finance Committee and are now also being incorporated into statutes for the first time.

Nothing changes in the amount of the annual fees.

They are "very moderate," says Forster and should be retained.

Adults pay an annual fee of 20 euros in Bad Tölz - the same as in the city libraries in Munich or Augsburg.

For families, 30 euros would be due - "regardless of how many children use the library," said the treasurer.

There is also a wide range of people - from trainees and pensioners to severely disabled people - who benefit from a reduced annual fee of twelve euros.

Use is free for holders of a spa and guest card.

Forster emphasized that an increase was expressly not desired by the library management and, from the administration's point of view, also not necessary.

Approval of the regulations was therefore only a matter of form: the finance committee nodded to both statutes.
