According to the Observatory, the dry northeast monsoon will bring generally sunny weather to southern China in the next few days. It is expected that the highest temperature in the urban area will reach 27 degrees tomorrow and there will be sunshine for several days.

Affected by the replenishment of the monsoon, the temperature in the area began to drop gradually towards the weekend. The wind will be strong at the beginning of next week, and the morning will be cool.

The Observatory predicts that the weather will be very dry on Saturday and next Sunday, with a minimum relative humidity of only 45%. It will be cool early next week. The minimum temperature in the city will drop to 17 degrees, and the temperature difference between day and night will reach 6 degrees.

By the end of this month (November 30), the Observatory is expected to have one or two light rains in the evening, with a level 6 offshore wind, and the wind is quite strong.

Entering December, the observatory is expected to be generally fine, and the temperature has not seen any further drop. The temperature in the urban area is between 17 and 24 degrees. The dry weather will return to next Friday. People should keep warm when going out in the morning.

La Niña or development

In addition, the Observatory said that in the past month or so, the water temperature in the central and eastern equatorial Pacific has continued to drop.

Based on the latest ocean observation data and predictions from multiple climate models around the world, it is expected that the central and eastern equatorial Pacific will remain cold in the winter of 2020/21 (December 2020 to February 2021) and may develop into a La Niña event.

In La Niña, the trade winds in the equatorial Pacific are stronger than normal, the warm water on the ocean surface is pushed further to the west, and the surface temperatures in the central and eastern equatorial Pacific are lower than normal, and the location of convective activity and the Walker circulation also change accordingly. .
