Police this evening (Thursday) arrested a 42-year-old resident of Pardes Hanna on suspicion of involvement in the arson of another man.

This is the brother of Nurit Shmayev, who was arrested along with another suspect on suspicion of setting her ex-partner on fire and restoring investigative proceedings.

Circumstances continue to be investigated by the Hadera police station.

Tomorrow morning, a hearing will be held regarding the extension of the detainee's detention in the Haifa court.

This morning, Judge Aharon Kaplan decided to extend for five days the detention of Shmayev, 36, from Pardes Hanna, who is suspected of setting fire to her ex-partner, a 29-year-old resident of Pardes Hanna. Her ex-partner caused him whole body burns.

The incident took place in the evening on a street in Pardes Hanna.

The couple is being treated at Hillel Yaffe Hospital in critical condition.

He was admitted to the intensive care unit and after a few days was transferred to Tel Hashomer Hospital for treatment.

The police representative, Major Rada Shalom, said at the hearing: "This is a very serious offense that was also committed in a cruel way.

There is of course a fear of danger due to the offense attributed to the suspect.

In addition, the police have carried out many operations so far, and now the investigation has become overt.

There is a fear of disruption as all those involved and the suspects have not yet been located and have not yet been investigated. "

Defense attorney Shai Levy said at the hearing that there was a possibility that the ex-spouse tried to commit suicide by setting himself on fire. .

Judge Kaplan extended her detention and ruled that "a review of the investigation file reveals that there is a reasonable suspicion that the suspect committed the offense attributed to her."

Along with Shmayev, Limor Janah, 26, from Binyamina, was also arrested on suspicion of aiding Shmayev and thus disrupting the investigation.

Judge Kaplan extended her detention until tonight at 10 p.m.

Police intend to appeal the decision to the district court.
