Bad Kohlgrub

- Kathrin Kleiner can already see grandma going shopping with her wicker basket.

Strolling from stand to stand and chatting.

Imagination now, reality soon.

Bad Kohlgrub is supposed to have a weekly market.

“As far as I know, this has never happened before,” says the representative of the New List.

The local council paved the way for this on Tuesday evening.

Initial talks were held in advance.

The trade & handicraft association still wants to deal with this at a meeting.

Kleiner is convinced of the idea.

From the positive effects.

“It's pretty quiet in the village,” emphasizes the 42-year-old.

There are only a few bars, the citizens rarely meet, the exchange between the population and guests is neglected.

The aim of the market is to breathe new life into the place.

Local council supports the proposal

This is planned every Wednesday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

“But not until spring 2021,” says Kleiner.

It is not yet clear where the goods will be available for purchase.

The policewoman suggests the location around the maypole.

From there, shops such as Feinkost Frank, Mode Kraus or Blumenzauber Sailer can be reached on foot.

So that everyone benefits.

This is why the community also sought the opinion of Clemens Böhmer, chairman of the Markt-im-Dorf cooperative.

After consulting with the tenants of the grocery store, which is due to open next year, he gave the green light.

“That was important to us,” emphasizes Kleiner.

After all, many citizens are involved in the project.

Not only goods from locals are to be bought in the market.

Four foreigners have registered interest with Kathrin Kleiner: a Turkish delicatessen specialist, a butcher from Farchant, a provider of Allgäu cheese delicacies and an Oberammergau man who wants to smoke fish on site.

They shouldn't be a competition, but an addition.

Except for Georg Doll (CSU) - he fears a loss of sales in the shops - everyone supported the project.

The town hall administration was commissioned to examine the details and to draw up a market statute.

Food truck since November

It is the second project in a short time that the Neue Liste, above all Kleiner, has pushed.

After the Schmankerl host had closed, there was no longer any option for warm dishes.

A food truck on the Alte Linde has been providing a remedy since mid-November.

The 42-year-old thinks that it would go well with a market on the maypole.
