Corona commissioner Prof. Nachman Ash said today (Thursday) that he estimates the virus will not go away in the coming year.

"An effective vaccination of the entire population will be at best in mid-2021, and at worst at the end of next year," he said in a first briefing to the media.

He called on the public to obey the Corona's directives, stressing: "I will not hesitate to impose a national closure if necessary."

The Ministry of Health updated this morning that 1,069 people have been diagnosed in Corona in the past day.

This increased the number of verified infections in Israel to 332,317.

Yesterday, results were obtained for 60,463 tests, with the percentage of positive for the virus being 1.8%.

The test data and their results are not final and may change in subsequent updates from the Ministry of Health.



The number of active patients is 9,422.

510 patients are hospitalized, of whom 122 are respirators and 282 are seriously ill.

As of today, 2,826 people have died from the corona virus in Israel.



Yesterday, 832 people were diagnosed in Corona.

The number of tests was 58,232, of which 1.4% were positive for the virus.
