"No one ever played or will play ball like him.
Watching him play was incredibly beautiful. Thank you Diego. May you rest in peace. A heartfelt hug to the entire Maradona family."
With a video of only 36 seconds, Juan Román Riquelme said it all: it was his moving farewell to Diego Armando Maradona.
From a 10 to another 10 and a bond of loves and shadows.
Accompanied by a subtle piano melody and the blue and gold aesthetic, the Boca idol expressed those words
to say his last goodbye to Maradona
who died this Thursday at
the age of 60.

In the video, iconic images of 10 are shown:
Diego coming out of the tunnel at Bombonera in the eighties;
Diego celebrating a goal also with the xeneize jacket;
Diego with Argentina's 86 World Cup shirt, the historic one.
And, finally, the photo of the two embracing on the La Bombonera lawn.
It was when Riquelme and Maradona played together in 97. In fact,
the day Diego played his last game he was replaced by Juan Román.
There were, yes, times of rupture when Maradona directed the Selection and made strong statements that annoyed Riquelme.
Maradona said that time: "I want Roman as a hook, in the last 20 meters, to make a difference, with mental speed to enable the forwards and to reach the goal,
but the other day I saw him on the Boca court. and I don't know if he has physical problems or what, but it doesn't work that way. "
The answer came in an interview, where Boca's idol announced his retirement from the National Team by ensuring that he
did not have "the same codes or the same way of thinking as the team's coach."
Nothing can erase, however, the farewell match, in November 2001, in which Maradona ended up playing
with the Boca shirt that Riquelme had given him
.
