Along with the opening of the education system and the malls, it can be seen that in recent days the number of people infected with the virus is on the rise. •

According to the results of corona tests performed yesterday (Wednesday) in Israel, more than 1,000 new carriers of the virus have been identified throughout the country.

This is a relatively high number that has not been seen in tests for more than a month.

Against the background of these results and the decision to return the entire education system to studies, we turned to the experts on the question of whether it is now worth stopping the next relief, and whether there is a fear of another outbreak of the corona.

According to the experts, we really need to stop at the moment and examine how the opening of the education system will be accepted.

They also recommended canceling the Hanukkah holiday this year, to prevent huge crowds of the public in closed areas.

Prof. Ronit Calderon-Margalit of the School of Public Health at the Hebrew University believes that the opening of the education system to commerce in Israel should be separated: "We must open up the education system for the sake of our children.

Beyond that, the children also study in defined and unpleasant places from city to city, so red and green places can be identified and prepared accordingly.

Only the teachers move from city to city and from school to school, so for the teachers, many corona tests are needed, but the schools themselves need to be opened, for sure, in green communities. "

"Regarding trade, we have to wait for a while and not burden the system, but see how the opening of the education system will affect. The public must be explained that winter has arrived, and that means flu and another burden on the health system. Opening malls now is a gamble. "

Professor Calderon noted that she is not a proponent of restrictions, but she says corona is a dangerous disease and indeed it would be a mistake especially in winter to open the economy at once.

"If it was up to me we would have canceled the Hanukkah holiday so that the children would not flood the malls and shopping areas."

She further added that she would not now allow gyms, restaurants, and in general any closed place where there is a danger of crowds.

"If we continue to open the situation will be problematic"

Prof. Nadav Davidovich, head of the School of Public Health at Ben-Gurion University and a member of the government advisory team, believes that the process should be managed together with the public with great care and not open all sectors of the economy without proper thinking and risk management.

"If we open everything now it could bring us to a very bad place. Because of winter people tend to congregate indoors and it can lead to a severe eruption so one should not just go on a rampage. However one should also say what yes, what to do so the public can do things "Therefore, we must return to the traffic light model, according to which there are red, orange and green settlements."

"Localities should be allowed to carry out local operations to reduce morbidity, and for that more local authorities should be given more power. I am sure a small community can very well manage and deal with an outbreak and treat it, and it may even be possible in a large city." With powers under the various municipalities, it will be possible to give an answer to some of the unemployed. "

"At the same time, everything has to be done in an orderly manner. For example, all kinds of pilots are now being done in malls and restaurants and elsewhere. These pilots must be allowed to mature and act according to the results. We must also launch a very wide-ranging publicity campaign. We need people to download the Magen 2 app to their cell phones and cooperate with us. "

Professor Davidovich adds that "there are other diseases besides the corona, so the opening process needs to be managed carefully. We need to continue to vaccinate the public against measles, which has faltered a bit, so only close cooperation and caution will allow the system to move forward on all levels and dimensions. "

Do you think it is currently worthwhile to prevent gatherings on Hanukkah by canceling the holiday?

"First of all, it is highly desirable that Hanukkah this year be school time, the education system has suffered huge gaps, the students have been at home a lot of time. But the whole system, ie the parents 'leadership, teachers' organizations and the state "In Israel, we have a long winter ahead of us that needs to be delivered in the healthiest way."
