Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein affirmed that Iraq continues to support the Palestinian cause and the rights of the Palestinian people to determine their own destiny.
Hussein said in an interview with the Russian agency Sputnik, "The Iraqi society supports the Palestinian cause, and the Palestinians are the ones who have the say and the decision first and foremost ... and they have the full right to determine their own fate, and the Iraqi position supports them in exercising this right."
On the other hand, Hussein pointed to the growing presence of the terrorist organization ISIS in specific areas in Iraq, such as Anbar Governorate, and in certain areas in Kirkuk, Diyala and some areas in Nineveh, pointing out that there are many detainees held by the Iraqi government who are members of this organization.
The joint Iraqi forces continue their operations to clear many Iraqi areas of ISIS remnants, and these operations have resulted in the past months in the killing and arrest of a large number of terrorists and the destruction of their hideouts.
And regarding Iraq’s possession of the military capabilities to compensate for the exit of foreign forces, including the US, Hussein said .. “We have extensive relations with many countries,” indicating that his country will cooperate with advisers in the fields of intelligence and training.
The Iraqi minister held talks yesterday in Moscow with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov on bilateral relations and regional issues.
